Children's Portraits Exhibited Saturday
"My Youngest Friends" is what Richard Morawetz calls his exhibition of 40 to 50 informal camera portraits of children which opens on Saturday, in Simpson's Avon
House Galleries. Children with their toys, children with each other; children
with their parents, children alone, children in a dozen moods: dark children, fair
children, babies and very grown-up looking little boys and girls. All are there, portrayed with a great deal of sympathy and understanding and
patience. Some of them, the babies of men in the armed services, were photographed for the first time by Mr. Morawetz: some are the youngest members
of some of Toronto's oldest families.
Mr. Morawetz, whose photography is a hobby as well as an exacting art, feels
that the darkroom work which he does himself is just as important as the taking of the picture: and believes that a photograph which satisfies him is worth any amount of time and trouble.
