Firkušný's 80^th Birthday Greeting

Morawetz enjoyed extracting a photograph or a piece of music from its context, and embellishing it with his own stories in order to create a humorous announcement or birthday greeting. On the occasion of Rudolf Firkušný's 80th birthday, he created the following card for the pianist (at left; translation from the Czech is to the right):

Feb. 92 Your music career was best captured by the forester Mumlal in Smetana's opera "Two Widows". I was thinking of you on your birthday and also thinking of the day when I heard you for the first time as a 10-year old boy, 65 years ago. I never thought that I would ever hear you personally.
