The Order of Ontario was established last year by the Liberal Government to recognize Ontario residents who rendered service of the greatest distinction to the province
in fields including business, labor, research, sports, culture, the arts
and volunteerism.
The first recipients, selected from among 400 nominees, will be honored by Mr.
Alexander at a ceremony in the Legislature on May 6.
"The men and women we are honoring have demonstrated excellence and achievement of the highest degree," Mr. Alexander said in a prepared statement yesterday. "We thank them for their significant contributions."
