THE FESTIVAL SINGERS opened with the premiere of Contrasting Moods, which they
commissioned under a Centennial grant, from Oskar Morawetz. Morawetz has a good
old-fashioned respect for words and the importance of hearing them. His setting
of two Archibald Lampman poems (The Railway Station and April in the Hills) is
true to both the word imagery and the lyrical flow of the verses.
