As part of its studio-christening series in his honor during this week's Glenn Gould Conference, CBC Radio invited all four of the composers whose music he had once played on an LP album [...] to write short pieces for the new Glenn Gould String Quartet to play in his memory.

[...] Oskar Morawetz produced Improvisation On Four Inventions by J.S. Bach, an elegy as much as an homage to Gould's taste for late Romantic harmony and 18th century counterpoint, which managed with typical Morawetz craftsmanship to emerge as an organic whole rather than a stylistic pastiche.
