Composer wins

Composer Oskar Morawetz of Toronto last week won the Critic's Award at the 1966 International Composer's Competition in Cava dei Tirreni, Italy, it was announced here yesterday.

Canadian conductor Ernesto Barbini made the announcement on his return from the competitions.

The award-winning work was Morawetz' Sinfonietta for winds, performed earlier this year by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
