PRIME MINISTER - PREMIER MINISTRE
Few events in our lifetime have so deeply affected the minds and souls of men
as the death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
I shall always consider myself privileged to have known this extraordinary
man - to have felt the warmth of his personality; the stimulation of his
intellect;; and to have seen the breadth of his vision. He is gone, but the
world still mourns his passing.
Because music gives rare and special eloquence to grief of this poignancy and
dimension, it is a source of considerable satisfaction to me that a Canadian
composer, Oskar Morawetz, has in this work expressed so movingly the sorrow we
all carry in our hearts.
