The orchestra played with the assurance that reflected what seemed better
than usual preparation. The "Passacaglia on a Bach Chorale" by the contemporary
Czech composer was a substantial piece of music. It used a full orchestra and
held close to the style and spirit of Bach. This was the outstanding number of
the evening.
